Cutoff Tool Holder and Post for Rivett 918

I had the cutoff tool holder laying around in the shop.  Milled out a post for it.  Works great however but will make another out of larger stock to get cross slide as close to spindle as possible.  Rethinking tool holders on cross slide altogether but worked out well enough.

Drill Chuck Clean Up

Started off with 3 seized up drill chucks.  PB Blaster and some persuasion freed them up.  Spinning them in the lathe with some Scotch Brite pads made the look great.

Rivett 918 Brake Removal and All Speed Variable Pulley Issue

Removed non functioning Cutler Hammer Type S size 4 from the Rivett 918.  Also noticed that the Variable Speed Drive has a broken “foot” and the bottom left Pulley is wonky.  Can feel the vibration so I will investigate solutions.

Sputnik Fixture – First full frame miters a success!

Still have some tweaking to do but blown away by how well the fixtures worked.  Got a little tube clean up and prep to do before fillet brazing.  Henry James Jig needs some dialing in as well.

Thule Car Top Repair

Plastic and I don’t get along.  Turns out the little plastic “clamps” break pretty easy.  Made some flat aluminum washers of sorts and brought them back to life.

May change how it sits on rails but I am pretty sure it will be below the rail surface.  

Sputnik Jig Setup

Experimenting with slotting tubing for dropouts on Sheldon Horizontal Mill.  Vise allows pass through for stays and keeps various diameters centered on slotting saw.  For tapered tubes the vise can be tilted to compensate and a round wire on the top of vee block makes for rigid setup.

Finished up a few projects.  Another Faux Headset for a friend and mods to some cool brass barrel adjusters for another local shop.
